This home had serious water damage resulting from a broken pipe. The homeowner, we’ll call her Beth, was in great distress. The floors were under an inch or water. Water was everywhere! Mold would come quick if something is not done fast!
RAM asked Beth for her most current Home Insurance Policy. Reviewing policy is critical to see if this type of damage is included in the coverage. It was in the document we read. RAM completed the inspection for damages. Wrote and filed the claim.
The claim was denied. Why? Because RAM didn’t double check to make sure that the Homeowner’s Policy review was the most updated document. It was not. Normally we do check this, but we missed that step. It was human error. Beth got us the current policy to review. Yes, the damages she now has are no longer included in her coverage. Needless to say Beth was frustrated.
How did RAM respond? Even if we reviewed the most current Home Insurance Policy she still would not have a claim. If anything could be claimed, it would have now been considered preexisting because of RAM’s prior filing. So filing another claim was not possible.
Doing the right thing is one of RAM Claim Adjusting’s core values. RAM is a responsible company. We called in a team of restoration professionals to clean and dry out the property. A very expense service costing thousands of dollars. RAM took care of the bill and charged Beth nothing. It was the right thing to do. It was the human thing to do.
